UnDomestic

Writings of a teachermom, choosing to stay home with her kids, while loathing all domestic responsibilities! In late Aug. 2008, I was diagnosed with Triple Negative breast cancer. After surgery, chemo and radiation, I was given theall clear. However, in the late summer of 2008, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which metasticized to other areas.

Uncover girls

I wonder how many calories I burn just staring at the covers of my free Fitness Magazine just wishing my body was like these women?

you mean too skinny, airbrushed, and absurd? mass media body types are a lie. they tell everyone that is what we want, which motivates women to attain those bodies, which means you have to spend lots of money on diet products, beauty products, athletic products, etc. etc. etc. It's a psychological tool to build a market. it's been working for countless years, and all we have to show for it is lots of anxiety, eating disorders, suicides, low self-esteem, sexualized relationships, etc. etc. etc.

the goal is to love yourself regardless what a piece of media, that knows nothing of your inner self or personal accomplishments, says you need to be. you need to be yourself.

with that said, there is nothing wrong with developing your body into a state of good health, but i'm hard pressed to guess those women are healthy. i'm guessing they deprive themselves of hunger urges. i'm also guessing they couldn't run the first quarter of any marathon you do.

Come on Cari, give yourself a little credit. I was just telling angela the other day that your blog should be called undomestic goddess rather than undomestic! (Did you know that Angela's bank accounts as well as our tax forms state "domestic goddess" under job title?
