Writings of a teachermom, choosing to stay home with her kids, while loathing all domestic responsibilities! In late Aug. 2008, I was diagnosed with Triple Negative breast cancer. After surgery, chemo and radiation, I was given theall clear. However, in the late summer of 2008, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which metasticized to other areas.

I'm Back

I finally gave up on trying to rekindle my old blog on modblog. Forgetting my password, I couldn't seem to set up a new one and being blogging again. My fellow bloggers convinced me to just start over. So I finally relented, only to discover that my old name "teachermom" was not available at this new site. Damn, I thought. Now I had to think of a name. So I tossed around a few. I didn't want to sound bitter, boring or ungrateful. I tossed around names like Homebound (which is what I felt like yesterday when reading posts from others about making plans to see movies, knowing I would be at home with the kids), Time Alone (Something I really need more of, but can't seem to find a solution to), or Diaper Duty (A realization that I'd be changing diapers for the next 3 years!...sometimes doing doubleduty). But as I looked around my house, seeing all the domestic chores that needed to be done, but that I loathe and couldn't bring myself to do, I decided upon UnDomestic. This was a term my husband's grandmother shared with me when we were talking one day. She told me she was not very domestic....I'd never heard an older woman say that before. My grandmother lives to cook and clean. I try all tactics to avoid it (including writing blogs). So I my new name is chosen, my first entry written, I'm back!!!

Yay! Welcome Back, CARI!!! I love the name. I'm not domestic either, that's why I allow Flylady to boss me around. Do you know her sight???

Hey Lee!
I saw that KC mentioned Flylady on her blog one day, but I didn't get a chance to check it out. What's the address?

Saw that you went swimming in the quarries. I never went when I was at IU, but I knew someone who dove off the cliff and broke several bones in his body...almost killing himself. I hope you're not doing that!!!!

Now I want to go out and rent "Breaking Away"

Even though she's annoying, we all need:

I just noticed your subtitle. it made me laugh.

my friend's quarry is very safe. I only get to go there about once a year, so it's a highlight. All my Bloomington native friends have friends in Breaking Away. Whenever we're at Panera or the IU Pool, Judy will say, "See her in the tie dye hippie dress? Breaking Away Bowling Alley scene." It's pretty funny.

What's Breaking Away?

Breaking Away is a movie from the 80s I guess. It's a fictional account of the actual Little 500 bike race in Bloomington at Indiana University.
